Uluwatu’s Best Sunset Spots

Surfing in Uluwatu promises reef breaks, point breaks and beach breaks that have a reputation for being on the more challenging side. But the natural vista is not to be missed. Sunsets in Uluwatu are vast – they envelope the sky. The first time I saw one, I had to sit in stillness and just let the experience wash over me.

Uluwatu is located on the southern tip of Bali, on the Bukit Peninsula. It has clear waters and a wide horizon. If you find a good spot to watch the sunset, unwind after a surf session or introspect after a day of yoga, it can be mesmerising.

Ideal for Solo Travellers (all travellers, really)

Uluwatu Temple sits on a limestone cliff about 70 meters above the Indian Ocean. It is an ancient sea temple with panoramic views of the ocean. The temple is one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks and a significant spiritual site in Balinese Hinduism. The temple is dedicated to the supreme god of Indonesian Hinduism, Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. Visiting this temple in the evening is an experience like no other.

If you want a romantic evening with your partner, check out Bingin Beach. It is a romantic enclave that perfect for the beginning of date night, or as the setting for cherished one-on-one time.

Ideal for Socialising

If you want to hang out with friends or meet new people, we recommend spending an evening at Single Fin, which is a popular beach bar on the cliffs of Uluwatu. They have live music, cocktails, and, of course, a panoramic ocean view. The best thing about staying at a surf camp is that you can post in our community group when you want to spend an evening out, and other guests are likely to join you for an evening of adventure.

Suluban Beach, otherwise known as “Blue Point Beach” is home to many beach bars and cafes and is a great place to meet new people and unwind over a bear and sunset.
