ULUWATU & SULUBAN CLIFFS
Best for: surf atmosphere and dramatic ocean views.
This is the classic Uluwatu scene: cliffs, reef, surfers below and the horizon in front of you. Come before sunset so you can explore the area rather than arriving as the last light disappears.
BALANGAN BEACH
Best for: beach sunset and watching the last surfers of the day.
Balangan gives you a wide stretch of coast and a strong surf feel. Settle in on the beach or find a viewpoint and watch the lineup turn into silhouettes as the sun drops.
BINGIN
Best for: a relaxed west-coast evening.
Bingin’s cliffside setting and surf culture make it an easy place to let afternoon become evening. Expect steps and uneven access in parts of the area, so footwear and a little extra time can make the experience easier.
ULUWATU TEMPLE
Best for: combining sunset with one of Uluwatu’s major cultural landmarks.
Pura Luhur Uluwatu sits high above the ocean and is one of Bali’s important sea temples. Dress respectfully and follow the site’s current visitor rules. If you want to include the Kecak performance, check current schedules and ticket arrangements before going.
DREAMLAND
Best for: an uncomplicated beach-and-sunset combination.
Spend the late afternoon by the water and stay for golden hour. As anywhere on the Bukit, ocean conditions change, so enjoying the view does not necessarily mean the water is suitable for swimming.
